Roland Caldwell was born and raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. His childhood was steeped in the folklore and legends of the region, stories of monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows and ancient magic pulsating beneath the earth. His family, generations deep in the area, held a deep respect for the land and its whispered legends of forgotten magic and lurking creatures. While some dismissed these tales as mere campfire yarns, young Roland found himself strangely drawn to them, a fascination that would shape his future in ways he couldn't have imagined.
His childhood was filled with tales of bravery, as his grandfather was a war hero and a skilled hunter. Inspired by these stories, Roland spent his formative years honing his marksmanship skills and learning the art of survival in the wilderness. Driven by a sense of duty and adventure, Roland joined the military straight out of high school. While he served with distinction, his bravery and resourcefulness earning him respect from his fellow soldiers, the harsh realities of war he witnessed took a toll on him. He left the military a changed man, haunted by the ghosts of battles past and disillusioned with the world.
Unable to reintegrate into civilian life and seeking a new purpose, Roland turned to a life of a mercenary, utilizing his combat skills for financial gain. He honed his combat skills further, taking on dangerous assignments in war-torn corners of the globe. While the mercenary life offered him a sense of purpose and financial security, it also left him feeling increasingly jaded and disconnected from humanity.
